- The LCE project will offer employment to more than 200 skilled, full-time workers from the local area. In addition, about 1,500 construction workers will be hired locally to build the plant for the 24 month construction period.

The City of Lackawanna (visit the city's website) will expand its clean energy and
environmental leadership reputation, that was secured through the support of the Steel Winds energy project.
- Local communities and the State of New York will gain revenues from the LCE investment of $1.5
billion. Examples of these monetary benefits include additional sales, individual income, and corporate income taxes.
- The plant will be built on 180 acres of contaminated industrial property that has lain dormant for 25 years. The property will be remediated sooner than would be possible under the current RCRA Corrective Action Program.
- Open communications and cooperation with community groups will be established to promote potential benefits that can be realized during project development.
- Local residents and businesses will benefit through hiring and procurement of local goods and materials during construction and operation.
