Lackawanna Clean Energy (LCE) is a clean energy conversion plant that will increase the supply of natural gas in New York State. It is the right project in the right place at the right time to advance our nation's struggle for energy security.

This state-of-the-art clean energy plant will benefit the local community, the State of New York, the United States, and the world, by converting a petroleum refining byproduct into clean natural gas.

  1. Lackawanna and Western New York will benefit from new employment opportunities, additional tax revenues and the accelerated remediation of an under-utilized industrial Brownfield site.

  2. The State of New York will benefit from the increase in domestic natural gas supply and tax revenues.

  3. The United States will benefit from the capabilities of the plant to help develop and demonstrate new environmental technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while providing state-of-the-art emissions controls.
